Through French rummy we merge into coon-can.Though it strongly resembles rummy, coon can is suitable for two people, whereas this can hardly be said of the other game. With evenly matched players it can become quite exciting.Ten cars are dealt to each player, and one placed face upwards in front of the stock. The players, from the start, have the option of taking the top card of the stock if down they wish. Seven cards is the minimum for the first show, down but as in rummy there is no minimum for the other player. A player may odd cards to any show down on the table.
The winner is the first player to show down all his cards and he score the value of nay of his adversary’s cards not shown down the game is 100 up. When showing down for the last time, a player may or may not discard a card on to the pile by the stock.
In one variation of coon-can a player may show down any number of cards at ant time, but if the first to show down sees not win the game, he loses an extra 30 points.
In both rummy and coon can the sets must be all different three sixes must be all of different suits. In rummy the ace only counts as low in sequences where as in coon can it can be high, low, or intermediate. Thus the sequence ace, king, queen , jack and queen, king ace, two, three , which are allowable in coon-can are forbidden in rummy.
